All applicants to Beloit are automatically considered for academic merit scholarships. Additional performing arts scholarships are available by application.
Scholarships are “free money” gift aid that is awarded based on merit and does not need to be repaid.
Academic Merit Scholarships
Beloit College recognizes academic achievement, talent, leadership, community engagement, and service — and potential in all of these areas. Scholarships are awarded based on the overall strength of a student’s application and their potential impact in the Beloit community.
Our scholarships attract students who are well-prepared for the academic rigor of a Beloit education, creating a vibrant community of future scholars, leaders, and innovators.
First-Year Academic Merit Scholarships
All first-year applicants are automatically considered for the following academic merit scholarships:
The Presidential Scholarshipis one of Beloit’s most prestigious academic honors. Selection is based on exceptional academic achievement and the potential for continued success as a scholar and contributor to campus life.
The Eaton Scholarshiprecognizes students who have achieved outstanding academic success and shown significant leadership qualities.
The Deans’ Awardis offered to students who demonstrate exceptional promise for success, both in the classroom and in making meaningful contributions to campus life.
There are no additional steps to be considered for academic merit scholarships. Awards are given primarily based on unweighted, reported GPA using the ranges shown below. Test scores are not required for merit scholarship consideration.

Transfer Academic Merit Scholarships
All transfer applicants are considered for the Trustee Transfer Scholarship, which recognizes collegiate academic success and potential to positively impact the Beloit classroom and community.
There are no additional steps to be considered for the Trustee Transfer Scholarship. Awards are given primarily based on college GPA using the ranges shown below.

Eligible transfers may also receive the Phi Theta Kappa Award, which recognizes transfer students who demonstrate their membership in Phi Theta Kappa, the world’s largest and most prestigious academic honors society for two-year college students. To be eligible for the up to $3,000 per year award, students must apply as transfer applicants by the transfer application deadline and provide proof of Phi Theta Kappa membership. First-year students with dual enrollment credits are not eligible.
Performing & Applied Arts Scholarships

Beloit’s Performing & Applied Arts Department is a welcoming community that includes musicians, actors, dancers, directors, choreographers, composers, designers, engineers, teachers, and historians — and is open to majors, minors, and students studying across the curriculum who have a passion for the performing arts (whether they thrive on stage or behind the scenes). Performances, courses, ensembles, lessons, and myriad opportunities for collaboration are open to all.
The Performing & Applied Arts Scholarships are awarded each year to admitted students based on their talent and potential to contribute to the performing arts at Beloit College.
Scholarships are awarded in three categories:

All applicants interested in pursuing the performing arts at Beloit are encouraged to apply. Students are not required to be performing arts majors or minors to be eligible.
Students should apply for admission and for consideration for the Performing Arts Scholarships simultaneously. Scholarships will be awarded after notification of admission.
Rolling Admission: First-year applicants applying after the above deadlines should strive to submit their Performing Arts Scholarships application on the same timeline as their admissions application.
While completing the application, you will be prompted to upload:
Sau-Wing Lam and Marjorie Brown Leff Music Scholarship: Video or audio recordings of two musical performances of contrasting pieces or styles.
Theatre and Dance Performance Scholarship:Video recordings of two contrasting scenes, monologues, clips of shows or dance performances (solo or duet or group). If you are sharing a video of a show or performance, please identify yourself at the start of the video.
Performance Design and Technology Scholarship: A digital portfolio and a 500 word essay. Digital portfolios should include visual examples of design and production work that relates to performance/artistic production or technical projects and should have a minimum of two projects that showcase your best work. The 500 word essay should include an introduction to you, your aspirations, and how you plan to work towards those goals while studying at Beloit.
Please apply in your area of strongest expertise. Although a specific difficulty level is not required, you should choose performances or projects that you feel best showcase your skills and abilities.
We encourage all music and dance students to perform, if possible and appropriate, with an accompaniment (e.g. piano, guitar, vocal track, etc.) so that we may see how you both listen and collaborate with others.
Once on campus, your participation in a production, performance, ensemble or lessons does not need to be in the same area as your audition.

Sau-Wing Lam and Marjorie Brown Leff Music Scholarship recipients must contribute to Beloit’s music program by registering for a performance ensemble or pursuing lessons each semester.
Theatre and Dance Performance Scholarship recipients must audition for theatre/dance/performance season productions each year.
Performance Design and Technology Scholarship recipients must participate in leadership positions in production/design for the Performing and Applied Arts season each year.
